Ruby Sparks
Calvin Weir-Fields, a classic
American novelist, his first novel which he wrote at 19 was a best seller. And
now at 29, he can’t quite produce his sophomore masterpiece. His therapist
gives him a writing assignment. One day, he wakes from a dream pulsing with
creativity and an obsessions with the girl he found in it, Ruby. Ruby was a 26-year-old
painter from Dayton, Ohio, her idols are Humphrey Bogart and John Lennon, and
she likes Calvin’s quirky dog. Shortly thereafter, in a never-explained
development, she turns up in real life, and convinced they’re a happy couple.
Calvin find himself to be the ultimate puppet-master, she will be whatever he
wants. If the relationship isn’t perfect, all Calvin ha to do is simply type
the words on the page and Ruby’s actions change to what he needs. Honest, deep,
and true.
